. . . . .
Brrr! Baby, it’s cold outside! Warm up this season with the newest issue of The Spot. We’ve got all kinds of good things to share, so check out what’s cooking: meet Nextworking Steering Committee member Jaime Johnson, gain insight from a leading local professional from UnitedHealth Group, mark your calendar and register for the 6th Annual Wine Tasting event on Jan. 28 at Five Event Center in Uptown, and get the answer to your burning question, “Who’s behind all this Nextworking stuff anyway?” Like your holiday stocking, this issue is bursting with treats and good cheer, so read on!
P.S. A very special thank you to all 150 of you who attended September’s trivia event at TCF Bank Stadium. Other than providing an evening of fun with your finance and accounting peers, it undoubtedly prepared you for future game nights and Trivial Pursuit marathons! |

Pinot Grigio? There’s an app for that. Prosecco? There’s an app for that. Shiraz? There’s an app for that. And by app we mean appetizer, folks! Join us for the 6th Annual Nextworking Wine Tasting – deemed the hottest event on the coldest night of the year – and discover what has become an annual winter tradition for Nextworking members! Sample a variety of red and white wines paired with specially selected appetizers, while meeting new finance and accounting friends and connecting with old colleagues. Did we mention this year’s event is in the beloved and wonderfully eclectic part of the city called Uptown?! (We know, it’s about time we ventured outside of downtown Minneapolis, right?) This event is hands-down our most popular of the entire Nextworking season, so you won’t want to miss it!
Register today! Space for this event is limited and we expect it to fill fast.

If you’ve ever been to a Nextworking event, chances are you’ve seen Jaime Johnson. A loyal group member since 2006 and Steering Committee member since 2009, Jaime’s infectious optimism and passion for connecting with others make her just the kind of person you hope to meet at a Nextworking event!
Having grown up in Plymouth, Jaime loves the Twin Cities so it’s no surprise that she moved back here following her graduation from the University of Minnesota-Duluth where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Jaime started her career at Schechter Dokkken Kanter Andrews & Selcer, Ltd. as a staff accountant and she’s still with the firm today in a senior accountant capacity. Jaime embodies the perfect balance of a strong work ethic and a free spirit, which is reflected in her life experiences. Read on to see where in the world her travels have taken her and why you won’t find a regular ol’ chicken sandwich on Jaime’s dinner plate!

What They've Learned
|
|
. . . . .
|
|

"Don't be afraid to ask why. Don't be afraid to question if something is right. Approach learning with respect for those who may have created a mess that you have inherited. Very rarely does that happen with intention and there is no better way to burn bridges and lose respect than to be disrespectful. Focus on making it better."

First things first, let’s embrace the upcoming holidays for every single, delectable calorie they bring without an ounce of guilt. Period. But once 2011 arrives, if you resolve to a) ditch fast food dinners for healthy, home-cooked fare b) save money on your grocery bill or c) free up some time in your beyond jam-packed schedule, you must read on. This Dave Ramsey-endorsed solution (and we know you like his approval) will have you tackling all three of the above tasks with more ease than you ever thought possible.
