Member Spotlight

. . . . .
Cassandra Elgersma is a senior auditor with
Schechter
Dokken Kanter, a Minneapolis-based firm
providing tax, audit, pension services,
forensic accounting, and general accounting
services to a variety of industries. Having
joined SDK right out of college as a staff
auditor, Cassandra has enjoyed the growth
opportunities and ongoing challenges offered
by her firm.
The decision of where to attend college was
not a tough one for Cassandra. She maintained
a long-standing family tradition by attending
Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan,
where she obtained a B.S. in Accountancy with
a minor in Psychology. She and her husband,
whom she met on a service trip in high
school, moved to Minneapolis and have made
their home here. Between traveling for work,
volunteering her time at a local home for
Alzheimer's residents, and watching episodes
of NBC's hit show "The Office," Cassandra
enjoys an active lifestyle by rollerblading,
playing volleyball, and walking around a few
of Minnesota's 10,000 lakes. She also finds
the time to participate as a member of our
Nextworking Steering Committee, providing
valuable input on future events and new
strategies.

. . . . .
"While not all successful people are great
networkers, all great networkers are
successful."
Darcy Rezac
|
Work the Pond! by Darcy
Rezac truly was a
surprising read for us. To be honest, we
thought we
wouldn't like it - that the frogs adorning
the cover and
its corresponding theme throughout the book
would
prove to be contrived and gimmicky. Boy, were we
wrong!
We were easily captivated by its core theme
of the
power of positive networking; the idea
that the
magic of random and unexpected good things
happen
to those who network well. Taking the "Pay it
Forward"
mentality a step further, it's about
channeling good
things both ways in your networking
relationships;
always with the goal being to maintain a
positive
connection while discovering what you can do for
the other person.

Best Kept Secret
|
|
. . . . .
Did last week's heat wave leave you cooped up
with
your air conditioner or fantasizing about an
unnecessary trip to the frozen food
department of your
local grocery store? Maybe you just saw a
little too
much sun on the boat this weekend. Either
way, do we have a night out that's sure to
satisfy movie buffs and foodies alike!
